About Gina Godbehere

I was born and raised in Phoenix as a 4th generation Arizonan and I have a strong connection to Maricopa County and its people. My family was one of the founding families of Buckeye and have proudly served this community as small business owners, community leaders and law enforcement professionals for generations. My upbringing has instilled in me a profound sense of duty and commitment to Maricopa County and public safety. My uncle was the previous sheriff of Maricopa County, and I am a proud supporter and advocate for law enforcement understanding the sacrifices they and their families make for our safety.

I am the proud mother of two beautiful daughters and currently live with my husband of 28 years in the west valley. I attended Arizona State University College of Law to become a prosecuting attorney, and I have spent the last 28 years as a public servant protecting our community.  My background includes 25 years with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, serving as a Bureau Chief under four administrations, before becoming the Chief Prosecutor for the City of Goodyear. I have proudly served as a Crime Victims’ Rights Attorney for the last year which has opened my eyes to improvements we must make in our current Court system to support our victims of crime. During my time in the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, I played an integral role in developing the first Juvenile Drug Court and implementing the Juvenile Transfer Offender Program. In my career as a violent crimes attorney, I completed over 100 felony jury trials.  I also had the honor of training and supervising hundreds of prosecuting attorneys and staff.

I am an active member of my Catholic Church and was raised to serve my church and community.  I am honored to be the CEO and co-founder of a nonprofit addressing teen suicide, addiction and bullying. As a mom, I understand how important it is to support our children and teens, to understand and listen to their needs. Speak Up, Stand Up, Save a Life has received national recognition for building platforms that educate, inform and save teen lives. My unique and well rounded experience has made me the best equipped candidate to tackle the complex issues of rising crime, addiction, mental health, homelessness and the threats resulting from an unsecured border.  It is imperative that we address these issues and prioritize accountability and the rule of law to keep our communities safe.

I am committed to fixing our broken criminal justice system and ending the liberal leaning plea agreements fueling our revolving door of justice. I believe Criminal Justice reform should never come at the expense of victims of crime, especially violent crime, and I am committed to returning the voice to crime victims that have become increasingly silenced under my opponent’s administration.

I am running to make a positive difference in our community and I would be honored to have your vote.
